Every barn has a story. Ours started with music, love, and one Waldoween.
Laura first auditioned for Randy’s band after placing an ad in a circular. Nobody called – except Randy. With her mom’s encouragement, Laura returned his call, went to the audition, and the rest is history. One handshake was all it took.
They’ve been side by side ever since – 30 years strong and still counting.
For years, Randy and Laura hosted their legendary Halloween parties in a “nasty old barn” that was built in the 1880s. One “Waldoween,” Laura had an idea: What if we turned this into a real venue? Randy wasn’t so sure at first, but eventually, she convinced him.
In one of the coldest winters Missouri had ever seen, they began cleaning out the barn. It was grueling, but by May 2014, The Clever Barn had its grand opening. Friends, family, and neighbors gathered to celebrate the start of something special.
And today, The Clever Barn continues to host love stories, milestones, and unforgettable events—all born from that handshake, that barn, and that dream.
